How to Prepare for your Boudoir Session
Congraulations on Booking!
Congratulations on booking your boudoir photo shoot. This is a meaningful experience to cross off your bucket list, and your portraits will make an unforgettable gift for that special loved one. Following are some Dos and Don’ts to help you feel confident, relaxed, and beautifully prepared for your session. Visit our FAQ page to address any of your concerns
Preboudoir Session Consultation
We recommend scheduling a preboudoir session consultation with our photography team at the studio. We understand that you may feel nervous, and this meeting allows us to get to know you, understand your vision, ensure you feel comfortable before shoot day. You will also have the opportunity to tour the studio and view our various shooting rooms.
Skin Preparation
Please avoid self-tanners, gels, or lotions and stay out of direct sun exposure for five days before your session. Self-tanners can appear orange on camera, and sun exposure may cause redness or tan lines that are difficult to correct in retouching. If you do have tan lines, don’t worry—simply relax and enjoy the experience.
If you wax, please schedule it at least two days before your shoot to avoid redness or irritation. Use only clear deodorant on the day of your session.
Hydrate well in the days leading up to your shoot for radiant, healthy-looking skin. Please avoid alcohol prior to your session, as it can cause puffiness or tired-looking eyes.
Wardrobe
Arrive at the studio wearing loose-fitting clothing to prevent impressions or markings on your skin. Avoid bras, tight jeans, belts, watches, or other restrictive accessories. Feeling relaxed will enhance how your lingerie or selected outfits photograph.
Please remove all tags from your garments ahead of time. Try on your outfits in advance to ensure proper fit and condition, as items not worn recently may fit differently than expected.
On the day of your shoot, choose outfits that make you feel beautiful, confident, elegant and comfortable—not what you think is supposed to look sexy. Confidence and comfort always photograph best.
Hair & Makeup
Professional makeup services are provided by our talented hair and makeup artists. We will schedule your hair and makeup approximately an hour and a half before your scheduled photo session. You are responsible for nails and eyelashes. We highly recommend professional hair, makeup, and nail services to ensure a polished, camera-ready look.
Enjoy the Experience
We’ll pamper you with a designer robe, charcuterie and fresh fruit, and sparkling water. Bluetooth speakers are available—bring a playlist that helps you relax and feel confident, or enjoy our curated selection. You are welcome to bring a mini bottle of wine if you wish. Please allow extra travel time so you arrive calm, unhurried, and ready to fully enjoy your boudoir experience.
